Space2B at The Maltings is the ultimate divergent business hub in Cardiff; but what does that mean? What does a divergent business hub look like? What does it do? What does it offer?

Here at The Maltings, we pride ourselves on being able to support businesses at any level and at any stage of their development, from grass roots start-ups, to established brands with over 100 in their workforce. We are more than just offices. Well, we have offices, sure, but there’s a lot more to offer under this historic roof.

Virtual Services

As part of our Virtual Services, we offer a Virtual Mailbox and a Virtual Secretary service. We also offer a combination of the two, as our full Virtual Office package.

With our Virtual Mailbox, customers are able to register their company under our prestigious address with Companies House as well as display our address under their contact details on websites, email footers, business cards etc. By registering your company under our address, you avoid having your personal address displayed publicly on the Companies House website and your business will seem more established to any would-be customers or clients. Our community team will also hold any mail addressed to you, securely on site, until you come in to collect it or request it be forwarded to you (for a small fee).

To set up a Virtual Mailbox account, we would simply need company and contact information, such as Company Registration Number and certified proof of ID & address, and a signed agreement for a minimum term of one month.

Our Virtual Secretary package is a call answering and message recording & forwarding service. Our professional community team will answer inbound calls under your company name and from here will either try to forward the call directly to you or record a message and the caller’s contact details to pass on to you by email.

Setting up a Virtual Secretary account is the same process as the Virtual Mailbox except with a three-month minimum term agreement. Anyone opting for both services in our Virtual Office package need only pass this information onto us once, sign a three-month minimum term agreement, and from there enjoy the benefits of a complete virtual office at The Maltings.

Meeting Room Spaces

Besides flexible personal working spaces, we also cater for more formal meetings - be that with your clients or with larger numbers of people for board meetings. Since the beginning of COVID-19, we have kept ourselves informed and acutely aware of updated, evolving government guidelines, adapting our facilities as and when, making them a safe place for you to work and your clients to visit. Our meeting rooms can accommodate 2 to 36 people, with event space available for larger bookings. Please note, however, that there will be limitations on capacity numbers whilst social distancing is required.

We offer state-of-the-art technology and facilities, along with refreshments, to ensure you and your visitor(s) get the most out of your meeting within a comfortable, modern setting.

  • Camera for Video Conferencing
  • High Speed Wi-Fi
  • On-site catering
  • Free on-site parking for guests

As you will see, our flexible range of professional working spaces come in various sizes. We look after our Space2B Community, with discounted prices on these spacious settings. We also offer discounted prices for block bookings. Rooms available to book by the hour, by Half Day and by Full Day:

  • Cardiff Bay Room – can accommodate up to 4 people.
  • Penarth Room - can accommodate up to 6 people.
  • Castle Room - can accommodate up to 12 people.
  • Boardroom - can accommodate up to 18 people.
  • Malt Room – multiple layouts are available (thanks to modular tables) – and can accommodate up to 36 people.

Office Space

We have a range of flexible office space to offer from a single person office to offices big enough to accommodate over 100 staff. These are modern in design, and blend seamlessly with the heritage of the building. The two types of offices available to choose from are:

Serviced Office
Included in the cost would be:

  • Fully serviced manned reception area where you and visitors will be warmly welcomed, and visitors provided with a comfortable space to wait before being received
  • The use of our kitchen facilities, which includes free tea, coffee, sugar, and milk
  • Non-Domestic Rates
  • Electricity
  • Heating and Air Conditioning
  • Office cleaning
  • Building Insurance (contents to be insured by the respective tenant)
  • Water Rates
  • Dedicated fibreoptic broadband supply with speeds up to 1GIG available
  • Parking space within the confines of our car park


Self-Managed Spaces

  • More cost effective to larger teams
  • Tenants receive a monthly electricity bill (based on individual usage) and are responsible for their own broadband and telecoms installation. They are also responsible for Non-Domestic rates which are payable direct to Cardiff Council.


We further provide peace of mind with 24-hour 365-day Security, have set in place CCTV coverage and provide each tenant with a photographic ID card that allows access via our fob-controlled doors. We also keep a high standard of cleaning and maintenance of communal areas. Further services available to you to aid the smooth running of your everyday also include access to the following:

Shuttle Bus

  • Our courtesy transport for office and Co-Working tenants to and from Cardiff City Centre.
  • Two morning pick-ups from Central Station (Penarth road side) at 08:15 and 08:45
  • Lunch time shuttle to Windsor Place. Depart Maltings at 12:00. Depart Windsor Place 12:45
  • Two drop offs to Central Station (Penarth road side) leaving Maltings at 17:00 & 17:30
  • All tenants need to do is email our Community team to book their seat

Cycle to Work Scheme

  • Cycle to Work Scheme bike rental (fold-up bikes)
  • Rent a bike for up to 5 days (return for weekends)
  • You supply your own helmet
  • To rent: give card details as deposit to our Community Team. Take part in quick induction, sign a waiver and away you go!

 Gym Membership

  • Free on-site gym available to office tenants and on certain Co-Working Space memberships
  • Open 24/7 – yes, weekends!
  • Weights room, cardio machines, weights machines
  • To access the gym, book an induction which costs just £15 and that’s it – free access around the clock!
