With the New Year comes a brand-new event space for Cardiff.

2019 was a great year for us at The Maltings. We welcomed the Kin and Ilk team to our community as our new on-site coffee shop & bar, we revamped the mezzanine floor to maximise its floorspace and the courtyard in which Kin and Ilk and the mezzanine floor are based had an amazing new glass front installed, making it an indoor area.

These newly developed spaces, which see modern designs mixed with rustic style, offer Cardiff a brand-new space to host corporate events of any kind.

The look and feel of these spaces offer a fresh new quality thanks to the selection of natural fabrics, raw oak timber, amber lighting and charcoal steel. The full-height glass entrance means the event spaces are filled with natural light throughout the day and a cosy ambience throughout the evening.

Our mezzanine floor is easy to access and can be closed off to our regular business community, making it a fantastic venue for private daytime/evening events.

With a capacity of up to 60 seated guests, it’s perfect for corporate breakfasts, lunches and dinners, networking events, recruitment days, seminars and workshops.

The ground floor Kin and Ilk space has a capacity for up to 100 seated guests and is ideal for a variety of events, such as informal drinks parties, intimate dinners with colleagues, standing suppers, panel talks and product launches.

A variety of layout options are available, featuring large banquet tables and chairs, with smaller intimate booths surrounding the main space. Bespoke staging and AV packages are also available upon request.

As we completed the developments of these spaces, we couldn’t help but host a couple of events to try them out.

In early December, we hosted a Winter Event for our entire business community here at Space2B. All of our tenants were invited to join us for an evening of free food and drink and live music entertainment ahead of the Christmas break. We welcomed over 200 people to The Courtyard where they enjoyed tacos, pizza, a range of desserts and were served beers, ciders and wine by the Kin and Ilk team.

The Courtyard was great for such an occasion, with ample space for everyone and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that set the tone for the evening.

Shortly after our Winter Event, we hosted a private Q&A event – An Audience with Sir Gareth Edwards and Lynn Davies, on our courtyard mezzanine. Friends of The Maltings were invited to join for an intimate curry lunch where they could meet and speak with the world-renowned rugby legend and former Olympic athlete.

The mezzanine’s location allowed for a perfect mix of privacy and accessibility. Based just above Kin and Ilk, food was freshly served without issue and by closing off the area, the private event went undisturbed by passers-by.

“As a venue, The Maltings is a hidden gem. Amongst the various areas suitable for a business gathering, there is a superb space that is modern, light, airy with a blend of old and new that is really different to an ordinary venue.

“We had 60 business guests for an informal lunch and it was a perfect place to host the event. Spacious and comfortable with good acoustics for the guest speakers. We devised our own menu that we felt was appropriate - and requested a buffet style arrangement. It was very reasonably priced and freshly made. Service was friendly and efficient.

“We would recommend the Maltings as a new alternative venue for Cardiff. Top tip. Talk to the venue, explain what matters to you in plenty of detail and they will interpret your needs accordingly. In our case, car parking for guests was a priority. The Maltings provided a marshal to guide and direct. Now that’s great service!” – Andrew Walker, Event Specialist.

If our new venue has what you’re looking for with regards to future events, contact us to arrange a visit and a discussion on how our spaces can help you.
